I moved to Charleston over 11 years ago to attend Johnson & Wales University to pursue a degree in the Culinary Arts. During that time, I have definitely embraced the term "Jack of all trades," because my interests and hobbies are just as varied as my work background. Before landing on my current (and hopefully last!) career as a full-time, licensed Realtor & Shareholder with AgentOwned Realty, I spent about a dozen or so years in the Culinary World.
Before, during and after receiving an education at Johnson & Wales, I worked in just about every single aspect of the restaurant business from waitressing and bartending to cooking and catering and just about everything in between.
Originally planning on spending only a couple of years in the low country, like so many others, I was captured by the city's charm and allure, and wound up deciding to "lay down roots" here. In 1998, I began a new and admittedly challenging, endeavor as the proud new owner of a restaurant on James Island named "That's Amore". Although, it was a relatively small place, it luckily became quite popular and kept me extremely busy over the next four years. Along the way, I met a tremendous amount of wonderful (and a few not so wonderful) people, cooked up some great Italian dishes, perfected the art of the "pizza toss", and trudged my way through the well famed trials and errors of restaurant ownership.
I learned very quickly that being the boss was not nearly as glamorous as I'd imagined it to be. Even though I’d always had a passion for food and cooking, the idea of spending the rest of my life in a hot kitchen working around the clock became a good bit more than I had bargained for. So, in 2001 I made the decision to sell the restaurant and enrolled at the College of Charleston to pursue a degree in Communication Studies.
Getting my Communications degree lead to a very natural transition into my real estate career. The tools I received from both my education and life experience have been invaluable assets in my ability to relate to my clients and understand and anticipate their concerns before they arise. The home-buying and selling process has the potential to be quite stressful; and I truly believe that one of my most important roles as a Realtor is to manage all of details throughout the process so that my clients can be alleviated of that added burden.
Selling real estate in Charleston is something that I feel very lucky and thankful to be able to do. I love this great city, and even though I have called it my home NOW for well over a decade, I still share the same excitement that people have when they visit here for the first time. It's that enthusiasm that keeps me excited about having the privilege of helping people from all over the country make Charleston their new home!
When I'm not busy with real estate, my greatest joy in life is spending time with friends and loved ones; especially my two cocker spaniels: Sam and Bella!
As a Realtor and Shareholder in AgentOwned Realty, I have all of the resources you'll need to help you find the perfect home, or if you're expanding your household, help you sell your existing home and find one suitable for your growing family.
